I played in one last year and it sounded awful. I imagine recording in one would be my own version of Hell. Especially if the client kept expecting me to "ProTools" everything.

I have a friend who has a cisten about 12 feet deep and 8 feet diameter. It resonates like holy hell at about 80 Hz (and probably several harmonics & subharmonics). You could tap the wall and the whole room would ring for about 5 seconds.

Might be useful for some sort of 'echo chamber from hell' or something...

Oh yes, I remember the Moore Hall Kiva well. While I never recorded in there, it was a theatre in the round at Central Michigan University. Right in the middle of the room, directly in the center, was a null point. If you were in the band, you would hear no reverberation. Weird; strange; a trip. As if you were speaking directly into your own mind.

Equally difficult I think would be a domed or a room with a parabolically curved ceiling. I've had similar 'in my head' experiences visiting various large monuments, halls and museums with these. The Hard Rock casino in Las Vegas has a dome over the bar in the center of the casino. You can be sitting there on one side hearing a conversation from people on the other side of the bar as if they were sitting next to you. Weird; strange; a trip.
