I believe a pump organ.
Did the mix seem terrible to you as well?
It sounded like ass to me.

There were definitely moments of 'ass' in the mix. Yes.
But Amy Sedaris was on before that. Mmmm...

Re: Modest Mouse On Letterman
i like the new album, but man itd be nice if they played older stuff...even if theyre going about to promote the new album. that song is ok, they shouldve played 'black cadillacs'...
when they played in miami they didnt play one song from 'this is a long drive...' which really really upset me since it was the first time they ever played here

Re: Modest Mouse On Letterman
I doubt they'd play an older song on a late night show appearance. I didn't get to see them on this tour, yet. They played two nights at a huge venue called the Hammerstein Ballroom. It sold out really fast too. Just a few months ago they played a much smaller venue, Irving Plaza. I heard Jeremiah Green rejoined the band. I didn't see him yesterday.mcfl0nuz wrote:

I've seen them many times. Either they're horrible or really good in my opinion. I think it depends on what state of mind Isaac is in.
Re: Modest Mouse On Letterman
he was trashed as hell in miami, really rude to the audience...but he never missed a note. those guys were tight as hell ( a few mishaps that the trained ear could hear) but they were on point that night, even though he was retardly drunk.
im glad to hear j green is back, the drummer in 'good news' is terrible.
very very boring, imo, esp compared to the other albums.

i saw them in bloomington, it was a great set. I don't think they played anything prior to the lonesome crowded west but the did manage to throw in alot of stuff that wasn't from the new album. I don't think that Isaac said a word to the crowd that night. A great set though.
all the bad leaves fall on cake for heaven's sake
Re: Modest Mouse On Letterman
dont know exactly what it was, the sound was a little like a chord organ. Afterwards when letterman went over to shake their hands... he said "so, you made this" and replied "yeah". Or something to that effect went down.bamse wrote:I didn't seeing him pumping. Are there pump organs with motors?i am monster face wrote:I believe a pump organ.
moral of the story...go build something

slowly panning across something kind of crappy...
Re: Modest Mouse On Letterman
lucky for you, he wouldnt shut the f*ck up in miami. if you were at that show and heard someone scream 'shut the hell up and play already' that was me...Isaac said a word to the crowd that night.
someone even threw something at him...

I freaked out and couldn't watch it. Not to say that I even started to watch it. I wussed out during the commercials. I saw them in Porland two months ago and, I was afraid it wasn't going to live up. Well at least "Good news" always sounds the same, realy frekin good.

I saw them play "float on" on jimmy kimmel and it sounded like dung. I just don't understand how they could play a song like that live and just have one vocal going on. It sounds like there's a million people singing on the recording and that's what makes the song for me.
good news sounds like a digital recording to me, I don't know why, and it doesn't matter to me, but I just get that feeling, and I think it sounds great. Does anyone know how they recorded that album?>
