What condensor mic?
What type of music do you record?
Are you recording to a DAW?
There's a lot of factors involved in choosing a mic pre.
What price range??
My first external pre was a Peavey VMP2 tube pre.
I have since purchased numerous others... (including neve and api pre's) But I'm still in love with the sound of my Peavey.
You can find one on the used market for around 400 or 500 bucks. And with two channels that's a great deal.
