Am i missing something. an email i recieved

Post by dungeonsound615 » Fri Feb 04, 2005 10:48 am

So a person im supposed to work with sends me this email.

after we record we need all the wav files for
the left and right audio tracks and i need to know what frequency and bit
rate they are.

Now i understand they want .wav files of there MIX and i understand the bit rate. I record at 16 44.1 but the frequency of the wav files HUH maybe he is confused or maybe im stupid but i dont get what he is asking there.

I can provide him wav files and the extraction program to load them up on his computer. I use an AW4416, so i can give him a backup or make one for myself and from that get him the wav files.

sorry im being asked to do things i havent done before which is fine and makes us all a better enginneer. I just want to make sure i dont get in over my head or piss someone off either while working with them.

thanks Mike

I would guess he means the sampling frequency, i.e. 44100hz.

You may want to check to see if your client needs individual left and right files. In that case, you'd want to (re)bounce everything "split L + R" instead of interleaved, if you did it that way. If they have stereo files they can listen to, i think that's interleaved...

Just a thought. You know your business. :D

Yeah! I'm guessing he want's a split left/right wav files and he wants the freak (IE 44.1 or whatever you recorded at).

You may want to consider recording at a higher bit rate (IE 24) which theoretically will give you a better sampling. Just saying.

Sorry to hijack, but is it right that if you export split L&R instead of interleaved you can import just the left or the right?
The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away.
