im a bit of a noob... little help here?

Post by waxboy » Tue Feb 08, 2005 7:18 pm

alright so here goes. I do have plenty of recording experience yadda yadda yadda (insert anything else a noob says to feel confident in here...) and ive got about 7 grand to blow on a new system (computer/DAW).

I use a PC as of right now... and yes, i apologise..

Im leaning ALMOST towards the mac mini just for convenience, however i keep thinking of not wasting my money and picking up a mega powered G5 system... people keep trying to push the mini on me by saying "but its so quiet!!" and well... all the other taglines that come with the mini.

(maybe ill wait a month for the mini G5)

the more i think about it - G5 or mac mini, i dunno why i posted this, but sure here its my first post :P

Hey noob, welcome.
People tend to get a bit snippy around here when you ask how to spend your money. Try to ask specific questions, you'll get better responses.

Don't apologize.

You will have much better luck getting a response if you ask this question over on the This @#$% Computer forum.

I would like to suggest that you keep what you have, and spend that 7 grand on my studio.

Or blow it all on just one thing - like a really nice cable or something. Do they make a $7k midi cable?

You better believe it. I just put one up on eBay. Figured I could use the extra cash. Let me tell you though, nothing sounds better than MIDI messages being sent through pure gold plated platinum with diamond tips. I will even through in a free 1/4" cable I made out of some lamp cord.
