Where to buy cassette tapes ???
Where to buy cassette tapes ???
Just recently got a tascam 238 cassette 8 track up and running.
It records at high speed and I realize I'm going to need a big ass box of cassette tapes to keep up with this thing.
So I'm looking for recommendations on a) what a good brand of tape is.
and b) where I can get a nice big box for a good price.
-thanks

i have a 488 mkII, and i've just always used maxell 60 min tapes or TDK master cassette. i can't really tell the difference between the two. i don't really care that much, i guess.

Re: Where to buy cassette tapes ???
Agreed on the Maxell and TDK recommendation. (I own a 238s).
Whatever you do, though, don't buy 90 minute tapes. You need the thicker backing, otherwise it can snarl.
60 should be the max. TDK Master series comes in shorter lengths (30, 15, etc.). The Guitar Center / Musicians Friend military industrial complex carries them, but you may want to shop around online.

Re: Where to buy cassette tapes ???
Do NOT buy TDK SA-X 60's.. they don't work right. Apparnetly they chnged the backing on the tape, and the last 2 times i have bought them, they start warbling and get increasingly warbled.
I like maxell, or sony, or fuji.. anything high bias, type II, no more than 60 or 74 mins.

Re: Where to buy cassette tapes ???
Actually, it's TDK Pro Series, not Master Series. (must have been the SM designation.)
Re: Where to buy cassette tapes ???
Nice. Thanks for the replies and for the heads up about the SA-X's.
