MXL V67G
Re: MXL V67G
I'm getting one for Xmas thanks to the wife. I can't wait to try it!
Re: MXL V67G
I have one and I like it on my voice. I've also used it as a FOK on drums, and acoustic guitar. It's a good mic.

Haven't used one yet, but word on the street is that it's a killer vocal mic for the price. I think my sister may be giving me one for Christmas, so perhaps I'll know for myself soon enough

i'll agree on the thumbs up for vocals. my first LD condensor was a rode nt-1. after i got the v67 i never used the rode again.

Re: MXL V67G
I've tried about twenty or more mics on my vocals, and this one is the winner. You know how a certain mic loves a certain voice? This one loves mine.
I like it on bass amps, kick drum and anything you might put any other LDC on. I like it a lot. Even compared to "expensive" mics.

yea, i've used it a lot on drums, and it is awesome for its price range. i get really good sounding drums. for me, it's a little too bright on my vocals, but that is just me.

Re: MXL V67G
What's it's character like, compared to the Studio Projects C1? Jonathan, if you are finding it a little bright on vocals, is it bright like the C1 or bright in another way? I tend to reach for the MK319 for vocs, I like the murkiness, but I'm always on the prowl for another cheap LDC... Would it complement the aforementioned two mics, or should I look elsewhere?
It's just that... it's so... cool-lookin'.

Re: MXL V67G
i used this mic finally on a martin acoustic guitar this past weekend...
about 18" from the side of the hole of the guitar...
it sounded really smooth on the bottom end and got incredible detail on the high end picking....
mids were light and transparent, but then again there are few mids with the guitar i was recording...
i love this mic...

below is pretty much how it was set up, but not with the Rode Tube mic...:

i was about to say, "that doesn't look like the v67g!" i see now, it's your rode. which do you prefer for that application? have you considered posting results as mp3s or something?mat wrote:below is pretty much how it was set up, but not with the Rode Tube mic...:

Re: MXL V67G
hehehe, yeah...
i liked the rode on the martin as well...but i prefer that for vocals or a mono drum overhead (dont have two for xy)
and yeah, i love my cr-8000 - believe it or not, i got it for 50 bucks in a shop in nashville 5 years ago...and it still has my programmed beats saved...
amazing i've seen it on ebay for $200-300
i'll make some mp3s asap of the 67 acoustic later this week... no prob

Re: MXL V67G
Has anyone tried the V69 tube mic? I've really been wanting to check it out.

Re: MXL V67G
If you get a chance, try your V67 on tambourine (I know, it's silly, but it's a great tambourine mic) and soprano sax. It's usually a little too bright for my tastes on most vocalist, but I like it at a distance (3 feet or more) to record background vocals.

Re: MXL V67G
I have the V67 B. Before they decided to discountinue them, they made three models. G for green, B for black and I think S for silver. Which is just an interesting side note. Anyway, out of the seven or eight mics I have, this one is my go to for any kind of stringed acoustic instrument. It seems to paint a really tonally inobtrusive picture of my acoustic guitar.
