Join The Get A Life Club

Post by TapeOpLarry » Wed Dec 31, 2003 7:34 pm

If I see anyone posting on here after 9 PM west coast time they will be banned from the message board! Go out and do something, it's New Year's Eve. And if you see me out tonight don't talk to me about recording!!!

Come on Larry, surely you know that New Year's is the absolute worst party night of the year- it's amateur night. I have no desire to be amongst a bunch of people who "cut loose" once or twice (Cinco De Mayo, perhaps) a year, then go out and play demolition derby on the roads. Nope, I'm chillin' at the crib with my wife and my dog, keeping it on the down low, as it were.

Happy 2004, all!

Okay, as long as you don't talk recording with the dog. And I'm not up for any babysitting.

I stopped drinking a few months back so this will be interesting (not drinking, that is).

Happy New Year to ALL!

I don't drink, so New Year's is always a waste of my time. I live in Dipshit Drunken Redneck Central, so going out anywhere is not in the cards for me either, and I REALLY want to go see Yeti tonight... Fuckin' idiots on the road.

Is it cool if I defer my life-getting until my band's first gig?

Another TapeOpper staying at the ranch.

With the motorists around here, the drive into town and back to the mountains is an adventure on the best of days. If they're all liquored-up, I don't want to be anywhere near the road.

Happy New Year all!!!

No surprises that I am the saddest bastard here, given that I was tracking guitar 'til 9.00pm. Then the bloke from the Indian arrived and the dearly beloved insisted that I open the bottle of Carva and eat the fuckin takeaway. Haha. Uhm.

Also at home tonight. Afraid of the many intoxicated drivers out there.

I survived the roads plus my only guitar at the gig ('69 Goldtop Deluxe) shorted out at the end of the 1st set in a new bar we played out in the sticks. Made a mad dash across town to snag the '64 strat...made it back to the gig. My band guys got trashed on jaegermeister and I stayed cool to drive. The van is pretty heavy duty,so we have a false sense of security.

The we played indoor basketball until 4 AM and my bass player almost fractured his skull on a dehumidifier corner. Duuuuuuuuuuuuu. Kinda fun, kind of a retarded evening but the gig paid cash green money. Staying home is a good call I say!

Hey man, it's 2004. I thought David Bowie said beware of 1984...wow, we're still here.

The spouse and I just hung out with a few friends last night. Nothing big.

I liked the point about new year's being amateur night. It's also kind of forced -- like you're supposed to go out and have this GREAT time but it never really works out. High pressure holiday. Now Halloween. there's a holiday that delivers exactly what it promises.

Happy 2004,
--JES
