using giutar pedals as fx in aux sends

Post by doctor phd » Sat Jan 03, 2004 9:36 am

I am wondering whether I will need to use a D.I. before and after the stompbox. In other words is console line level to much signal for a guitar pedal.

Thanks
I got a doctorate in cold rockin it.

I use a soundcraft delta 200 mixer, and my auxes feed guitar pedals or amps just fine.

You can get away with sending a signal out from an aux send, but you should get a better sound if you match the impedance and level of the aux output to instrument level before the pedal. There is a box called a reamp that will do this for you.

After the pedal you can use a DI, but do not rule out running the pedal into a guitar amp in the next room, micing that and running that mic back into the mix . This will give you a few more creative options.
