Russian Recording updates

Post by Russian Recording » Fri Apr 14, 2006 9:03 am

Oh, I thought I'd post here for shits and giggles.

I just installed a new Speck S72 console, a Crane Song Spider, rewired the entire studio with Redco TG cable, isntalled 4 TT patchbays, new dual 19" LCD monitors, a Sunfire Subwoofer, a few small additions to the mic locker (Shure KSM 141, pair of Josephson C42s, LOMO 19A9) and a bunch of other goodies.

The studio is avialble for rent to freelance engineers for 150/day. This is very cheap. Super relaxing and laid back atmosphere. Everything works great, it is a very easy studio to operate, specifically designed to be user friendly.

My website is hard to update, so I've updated the myspace page with new pics and such. So take a look:

For better pics of the studio go to the wesbite. Some photos are not up to date, but you can get a better idea of the space.

thanks

heya formzero.

yeah, that's the new desk. I think it's wonderful. It was a lot of work, and I learned a whole bunch from installing it, but now that it's up and running Im loving the hell out of it.

I use it for monitoring during tracking, and then for mixdown.

It's fully modular, but it's got no mic preamps. I have a really nice selection of outboard preamps, so it's perfect for me. 40 inputs, eight busses. The EQ is very natural. Not really surgical, but quite smooth. The board is very clean and has loads of headroom, which is exactly what I need. It's really nice to have a full format pro desk that's small enough to fit in my contrl room.

It also came with 4 TT patchbays which I had to completely rewire.

Vince Poulos, the man behind Speck is an awesome, awesome dude. He sat on the phone with me for hours over the course of a month walking me through the circuit boards, schematics and troubleshooting for a console that he built 15 years ago! 'm not even techically a patron... I bought the board 2nd hand, and the guy treated me as if I just spent 20 G's on one of his new prodcuts. Really great customer service, very knowledgable and an all around nice guy.

Looks great! I like the Slingerlands. They're maple, aren't they?

thanks, i love that drumset. Im not really a "drummer", but the kit does sound awesome. Im also not sure of the wood. The shells are covered in wood grain "sheets" or whatever it's called. They look nice and sound nice though, and they are large.

ah... you know man, there's nothing in indiana but corn... i kid i kid! :) i am sitting on my couch right now and it is fucking great - couple days off in the middle before kicking off west coast. sleeping in my own bed is so great. highlights so far include meeting cgarges in charlotte, likewise as he says about you - chris is every bit as cool in person as he is online.
