My RPM gear scorecard so far:

Effectron II
ART pro VLA
2 - Yamaha PM1k's
Tascam 238
2 - EV635a's
1 - EV re20
An old cassette i dug outta the crap on my dresser

Casio "Casiotone 401" (beats!)
Baritone ukelele
Out of tune piano
Fender Bronco Bass
Harmony banjo
Various kids instruments
Shakers and shite

all of this tucked into my front closet, so that it's outta the way.
Slide open cheesy hollow slider closet door, run extension cable to outlet behind the couch, sit in kids chair, record.

i love my new effectron.

I signed up as well, under JWL. Did this 2 years ago with my band (Freakwitch) but I'm going solo this time, justfordafukkovit.

Signed up here as well... under the name "Tessitura"
I tried to do this last year but my songwriting partner dropped out on me and I guess it bummed me out enough to not finish.

Not this year, though.... This is going to be fun.

well i signed up again this year, it always seems like february is the worst possible month for me to record, just so much other stuff happening with work and such, but what the hell right?

here's what i did last year:

http://davewatkins.rpmchallenge.com/

my idea was to use that stuff as the basis for a full blown release but i haven't had quite enough time to finish it yet, so maybe between this year and last i'll be able to sort it out. or i'll just record a 40 minute bowed psaltery solo :D

onward!
the tape is rolling, the ones and zeros are... um... ones and zeroing.

3rd timer.

Haven't started yet.

Feb. is the shortest month goddamit. Anyway, I'll squeak out ten tunes somehow.

Update.

Drum tracks - check
Bass - check
Guitars - 3 songs left to do/redo
Vocals- Scratches are done, but need to do the real deal, Holyfield.

Finishing guitar and vocals this week with an eye for mixing on Friday and Saturday... turn it in Sunday.

Whew... it's been hectic this last week.

Anybody else still on track?

Don't think there's any chance for me, at this point. I just work too damn slow, and the people that I had lined up to play couldn't get it together. Had zero material going into the month, so I didn't have high hopes to begin with.

BUT....

I'm totally happy with the fact that it motivated me to start writing and making music again, after a long period of not doing so.

You should be happy.. That's kind of the whole point of the RPM challenge in the first place, ya know?

We're finishing the tracking on our last song tonight. My partner is heading out of town tomorrow, so I'll be finishing the mixing on that song and sequencing up the album this weekend. I've been mixing the rest of the songs as we've gone along, so those are all done. I'm pretty pleased with our output.
