Tape Machine Tech in San Diego

Post by Al_Huero » Sun Feb 26, 2006 10:28 am

Anybody know of one? I'm interested in picking up 1/4-in 2-track reel to reel mastering deck and with no experience with the things, will likely be looking to get it checked out and setup after purchase. Does anyone know of a person or place doing this sort of thing in SD? Or how else I might go about finding someone?

Thanks.

Contact ATR and they could refer a tech for you. Have you also talked to Mike Kamoo over at Earthling? Might be a good ref.

Take care,

Charlie Bolois is the man for that stuff, and he IS ATRs rep for the area. He doesn't have a site right now or anything though.

Cool, and yeah I'll check with Mike. And I can contact ATR through a website? I'll check back if I can't track it down.

/edit--found it, thanks.

For the record, after digging around a bit for a tech in San Diego myself, the only one I came up with is Tony Lopez (thanks to Shaun of Blue Roof Studios and Andy- aka moogplayer). His business, Studio Support Services, is listed here:

I'll be using him to tune up an Otari 1" 8 track. I'll be sure to repost if for some reason I run into any major issues, but I doubt it. Word is that he's a good tech and a nice guy.

That's good news. I am just getting ready to invest in a reel to reel and would feel a lot better about it if there was a local guy to service it.

Do you guys know of anyone getting selling a reel to reel in SD?

What are you looking for? 2-track, 8-track? Other?

Cool; I've got a spare 1/4-in 2-track.
