DC area folk - a plea, and an idea
first, the plea. I'm out a couple channels or preamp and my now defunct band are wanting to record our last unrecorded tracks just as something we can all have before we start moving all over the country... would anyone be cool with loaning a nice channel or two of pre for a day or two? Just need it for when we track drums and guitars live, should be a one day affair as our guitar parts are simple and the drummer a monsterously talented guy. We may be doing this as early as, uh, saturday.
second, the idea. DC beer'n'gear night was a bust, most of us were rescuing stuff from flooded basements. What about a listening party sorta thing? Bring some gear, some instruments, check out mics and pres and such in someone's project space with beers and cherry coke near at hand. I can't hear what anyone says at the Black Cat anyway. My space is a little lame in that it's in my parents house out in Herndon as i live in a smaller apartment in Alexandria, but hey, worst case, I'd host.

hey just checked this thread again - I'm here Aug 14, that's near the end of my DC time for the next year, but yea - it'll work. You have a session then? I'd be happy to bring some stuff by. Alternately, I'd still love to do a DC beer'n'gear night. Any night this week other than friday and early half of next is totally good with me.

cool, i'll PM you a list of stuff if you want to try some things out for mixing. the cat would be okay, but I like the idea of a recording space more - get to geek out and all.kdownes wrote:the mix session was this weekend. we didnt finish, so we are gonna continue this weekend.
mon the 14th would still be the best for me for a beer-n-gear.
my place is still open, or we could meet at the black cat?
