Raleigh/Chapel Hill Beer Night

Post by cgarges » Mon Jul 24, 2006 11:10 am

I know it's a long shot, but I've got a session up in Durham on Wednesday August 9th and a gig in Raleigh with Don Dixon on the 11th. I'm trying to see if there's any way I can avoid spending the time and resources to get back to Charlotte only to turn around a day later and drive back up there. If you or anyone you know has anything that might require a drummer/percussionist or recording engineer on Thursday August 10th or during the day on Friday the 11th, let me know and I'll be happy to work cheap if it means not having to drive all the way back to Charlotte. I've got a few other emails out, too, but I'm hoping something comes up. If there's any chance that I can be of help to you around that time, please let me know. Thanks a bunch!

So, my session's rolling over into Thursday morning, but it would still make more sense for me to stay up there Thursday night. Anybody up for a TapeOp get-together? John Plymale was interested, so it'll probably be a good hang. Anybody into it? Suggestions for places?

I'm in for CH or Durham.

(and here's my vote, please NOT the Rat.)

I think CH or Durham would be easier for me, too. Any suggestions?

Is anyone likely to show up for this or should John and JJ and I just go grab a beer?

I'm down. Even if it's a small get together I'd like to put some faces with some names and geek out a little. I haven't been able to make a triangle beer night yet but I'm free this Thursday. I'm in Raleigh but willing to come to CH or Durham. I've heard some good things about the new bar Milltown but haven't been there yet. They're supposed to have a great beer list and outdoor seating.

Yeah, I'm in favor of Milltown. Food's good, tap selection is huge. Service is a little hit and miss, but whatever.

Is it a good place to sit down and talk and geek out without having to shout over loud music and stuff? If so, I'm down. JJ, you were at the last one. What do you think?

I think it should be okay, 'specially if we can sit on the patio. If it turns out not to be cool, we can always wander down to the Weaver Street Market (one block away), who also have beer, and sit at tables on the lawn.

Shall we call this, then? Milltown -- What time? Like 7? 8?

I like 8pm at Milltown. I'll try to bring a friend or two who would enjoy it. I've never met you guys before, though, so what should I look for? I assume you might be wearing Chuck Taylors from your webpage, Chris, but chances are you won't be the only one in the whole bar with them! I'm 5-9, dark hair, gotee (this is starting to sound like a personal ad  ) I'll wear my green WUVT T-shirt so I'll be easy to spot.

There are also pictures of me on my website. I'll probably be there with JJ.

Sounds great, guys! Looking forward to it!

I'm wearing black today, as everyday, but today I have a large button-up shirt with a blue spider motif on it. Should be pretty visible.

Green T-shirt and jeans. (Blue jeans, not green jeans.)
