the Jefferson airplane performance at altamont, as documented in the film. Highlights: grace's blue leisure suit. Hippies dancing. Great groove ... And then ... The first of many dreadful rumbles between the hippies and the hells angels. The band stops. A hells angel starts arguing with the band over the PA. And the the next shot is the most rock and roll thing ever, a line of motorcycles idling through the crowd slowly making their way to the stage right before the stones set. The whole situation is so out of control. That is rock and roll. Creepy and unsettling too, yes.
The synth breakdown in 'Frankenstein' - that big LFO drop. Makes $9000 for an Arp 2600 seem reasonable...
Van Halen's 'You Really Got Me' cover, second verse; there's a squealing EVH lick right after the line "I always want to be by your side (squeeeal-deedle-deedle)"...
Led Zeppelin is pretty full of those "oh, here comes that one part" moments. The "so good" at the end of 'The Ocean', the tail end of the Stairway solo...the steel in 'Tangerine' always breaks my heart.
Oh, the solo for Floyd's 'Time'. Good call.
The vocals at the end of The Outfield's 'I Don't Want to Lose Your Love' are nice...

Cheap Trick's "Baby Loves to Rock" - right when the snare and guitar come in about 5 seconds in...

When the chorus hits on Nine Inch Nails' the Perfect Drug, and then every subsequent 15 seconds or so something awesome happens in that song. Still amazes me...

+1 How about the build up in "Do you realize" That song builds and lifts so beautifully. The happiest song about death ever. It seems to make life make a little more sense (atleast to me.)I think that almost every single time I saw Steven Drozd hit a drum as the drummer for the Flaming Lips during the mid to late 90s was the most rock and roll moment I've ever seen.
