Detroit Musicians Release Elliott Smith Tribute Album

Post by pedrohead » Thu Oct 24, 2013 9:56 am

Wanted to make you guys aware of something I contributed to under my "The Bruised Reed" moniker. It's a free download if you'd like to take a listen to all the artists involved. Thanks.

Press Release
Detroit Musicians Release Elliott Smith Tribute Album on 10th Anniversary of Passing

"Smith was a big influence on me," says Jeremy Otto, curator of the project and head of local label 'Communist Day Care Center.' "I realized a few months back that we were coming up on the 10th anniversary of Smith's passing. Doing a tribute show did not feel like it was appropriate to the occasion or to the kind of artist Smith was. Once I spread the word about doing the album within the Detroit community it didn't take long for
the contributions to come in."

The album features Rogue Satellites, Emily Rose, The Bruised Reed (project of Josh Wheeler from The Paper Sound), Jesse Shepherd-Bates & George Morris (of Satin Peaches), Ian Pinchback, DandyLyon Whine, Brandon Frye (of Superbomb), The Marvins, Stephen Austin, Oliver Thompson, and many more.

Check out Rogue Satellites performing Smith's "Say Yes" here:

The album will be available for free download at
http://everybodycareseverybodyunderstands.bandcamp.com starting October 21st.

Artists involved ask that people who download the album consider making
a donation to the National Suicide Prevention Hotline here:
