An excellent point. That can also explain the really silly stereo panning on '60s records.

Well, that certainly descibes the Grace Slick I saw live in the 80s. That and "drunk as hell."

I'm a huge fan of surrealism, although I'm not any good at creating it.

Has this thread gone off topic yet?

Why doesn't somebody on this message board find a way to use autotune creatively and post the results?

I think the t-pain style of using auto-tune is very creative. They're using a tool to do a completely different job than what it was intended for. Like strapping a rat pedal across a mix buss, or something, creating a new sound. It's been overdone, sure. Arguably, it even sounds like ass, but c'mon, it, at some point, was creative.

Now you want a new creative use of autotune? What makes you think that's going to turn out any better in the final analysis?

Well...there is always autotune the news.

And very agreed with the "because it was new theory." Just like every album released in 1984 had dx7 all over it - VH is a case in point.

I was a young pup when I first heard the faux horn lead-in on "I'll Wait" and even though a critical listening now tells me the sound is cheeseball and passe....if I squint just right, it still sounds badASS.
bigger and better....sooner than later

Auto-tune renewed my faith in Katie Couric as a current events spokesmodel.

DX7? We overused that because it was the only keyboard we had for a while. Have you been listening to my HiSkool music folder?

Didn't they tout fm synthesis in a "this digital is the new analog" sort of way? Like, "Hey, don't buy that new Mirage 12-bit sampler, the DX7 actually sounds more realistic if you use it right."
