does anyone have any idea what instrument or whatever is used for the "solo" in this song? some friends and i are covering this album and are coming up with nothing for this. any help would be appreciated!

it's a synthesizer.

;)

maybe a Moog, EMS or ARP - some kind of old modular monophonic analog synth. i can't remember what i've seen him play in the old roxy footage.

JUST been relistening to this stuff. Had forgotten about it forever. Yes, it's a synth with a glissando.

Have your friends posted any of their work yet? I was just fantasizing today about covering some of "Taking Tiger Mountain..."

ill post links to the finished songs shortly (and probably start a thread in "listen to MY stuff") i know it's a synth!!! :lol: i just can't seem to get anything remotely believable.

haha...sorry, couldn't resist :)

but seriously, it's specifically an old modular/semi-modular... he's doing the kind of stuff you can only do with a lot of easily accessible filters to mess with in real time, on a monophonic signal with portamento. do you have something in your arsenal similar to that?

i guess you posted what you came up with, yeah? i wanna hear how you made out! i'll go listen...
