Does anyone know how to embed mp3 files in quicktime?

Post by umz » Thu Apr 22, 2010 11:04 pm

When I click on other peoples songs sometimes it goes to a a page with an embedded quicktime player that will play the audio for the song instead of having to got to a myspace page. Does anyone know how to do this?

Just upload your song to a web server and create an HTML link to it. If someone clicks that link and has their browser set up to play back mp3s via a QT plug-in, then it will happen automatically.

Yes, just link to the mp3 and let the user's browser sort it out. It'll use quicktime, or whatever they have their browser set up to use. Please don't "embed it in quicktime." Proprietary formats suck balls.

In other words, when you want to listen to a file and it goes straight to quicktime in a new tab/window, that's your browser automatically doing that with the file because the file is sitting there as a plain old .mp3 file. The myspace embeds files in its weird player gadget, which is what you are trying to avoid.

This is to add to/clarify what the other dudes said, which made good sense as advice.
