Re: A spoken word set to music kindof thing I did (3 min)
Hey Nick,
So sorry to drop off the face of the earth for a minute there. I’ve had a very busy week with my daughter moving out, a banking fiasco to deal with and a tough anniversary coming up tomorrow.
Plus, your mix has been challenging for me. I have listened to it many times. It was not what I was expecting. Thank you so much for putting so much into it. It has given me a lot to think about and I really appreciate you engaging with me and my material. My wife, who is an author, says you have done a POV shift and taken my interior monologue and made it more of an offering intended for others. I don’t like hearing my inner voice so naked, without the other me’s there in support, but I’m open to it being a good thing.
Can I offer your mix as a remix on the Bandcamp Album EP I’m making for this song? It will be up there with my last mix and an instrumental mix. I was going to offer it all for free with the option to pay. If any money comes in from your mix I will send it all your way. I could put your remix up for pay after a few free listens too, if you want me. I think there is going to be a link from https://www.firstofthemonth.org/ to the bandcamp page. I have no idea how many clicks that will get us. I am assuming 2.

Glad it got you looking at your work differently. That is always a good thing to have happen.
Sure, put it up, see what happens.
For credit: put "Remix by Nick Sevilla", as usually that works for Allmusic etc.
Cheers, maybe we work on another one down the line. It was fun for me to let go of the idea of just "mixing" what was already there, and allowing your idea to give me ideas too. The whole thing only took about half a day to get done. I do not like taking too long on things.

Howling at the neighbors. Hoping they have more mic cables.

Yeah, this was fun and good in every way.
I owe you one, so if you ever need a drum beat or anything I can do, let me know.
Can you send a lossless file for bandcamp?

These are great. Nick's version made me think the Lexx theme (about 30 seconds in) https://youtu.be/Vo6ebIy4COw?si=zk1XmA5dmNpo3aIR
Village Idiot.
