Oh, and I'm an American, it was the Brits who pilliaged Nigeria. While America certainly took slaves from Nigeria (nobody in my family was ever a slave holder, and in fact my family fought for the North to free the slaves in the civil war) Nigerian elites themselves certainly profited handily from the slave trade. So to say that I should be ripped off for something that I had absolutely nothing to do with, and in fact my heritige fought to end, is part and parcel with today's self loathing liberalism. I'm sorry, a rip off is wrong, slavery is wrong, and to engage in or apologize for any of it is wrong. Sometimes wrong is just wrong.

To encourage them to steal and apologize for their crimes is hardly going to help the average Nigerian and the future of Nigeria. In fact encouraging and enabling these crimes and this behavior will do far more to hurt the people of Nigeria than help them. You are encouraging them to be criminals and branded as such by the international community, which hurts every Nigerian, except the people trying to steal your life savings. It makes them feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
