WTB: Preamp w/S/PDIF out

Post by Narcoleptico » Mon Apr 09, 2007 10:52 am

Hi all,

Long time reader, I'm looking for a nice preamp with S/PDIF out to interface with my Mbox. Something like an Apogee mini-me. Looking to spend $600 at the most.

Thanks.

Have you looked at the Presonus Eureka? Only a single channel (not sure if you need stereo), but it is a really nice preamp, compressor, and EQ with an optional digital output card.

and, the digital output card has the option for a 2nd pre input - making the SPDIF stereo using the Eureka and whatever you chain into it...

a new minime w/o usb would cost about $640 new & shipped from bsw with that red banner discount that you get through this board.

None up now, but DBX 386 is a fine preamp that often goes for under 300 on eBay. I use mine thru the s/pdif all day long.

Oh man...that is awesome!!! I have one with the digital card, and just bought a used one without. I really should learn to read manuals. Nevertheless,
thank you!
