Finally getting rid of my old Tascam 388. It's working great (recently replaced a fuse, but that's it for issues.) I'm just not using it and need the money.
I'll throw in three brand new reels of RTM tape, the wired remote control, the manual, and some cleaning supplies.
I'm in Maine, and I don't want to ship this thing. $3k or best offer.

Re: FS: Northeast -- Tascam 388
Funny enough, I’m moving to Maine next summer and have been considering a 388. Longshot, but if it’s still available then, let’s talk!
Re: FS: Northeast -- Tascam 388
Yes! And welcome to Maine.
Re: FS: Northeast -- Tascam 388
Someone interested in this machine is trying to convince me to figure out the cost to ship it... Am I right that that's just not worth it at all? I have no experience building a crate for something like this...
Re: FS: Northeast -- Tascam 388
I would say not worth it. I’ve bought and sold several of these and have never had any issues finding a home for it locally. If your buyer is near Kansas City send them to me, I have two I would sell lol.
If you try to put this through UPS or something with no experience packing something like this, it’ll surely get wrecked. My only suggestion would be a service like u ship it where someone with a car physically drives it to the destination. Or drive it yourself.
For actual ground shipping I would expect at least a few hundred $ and up. The last thing I shipped anywhere close to this weight was a Moog Polymoog which was $200, but that was pre-Covid.
Re: FS: Northeast -- Tascam 388
Yeah, sounds right to me. This thing is working and it needs a good home; I don't want to be responsible for breaking it!
Re: FS: Northeast -- Tascam 388
Bump - if you are interested in a 388 and within an hour or two of Maine, make me an offer. All I'm getting on Reverb is people attempting the cashier's check scam. (Lately I just reply to them with a link to the Wiki description of the scam and they disappear...)
Anyway. This thing deserves to be used and loved, would love to find a home for it.
