Hey Ya! is awesome. I'm trying to figure out how to get my classic rock cover band of 40-year olds to do it. I also want to do the first verse of "Happy Valentine's Day" at a Feb 14th gig. I imagine people would love it, even if they didn't get the reference.

So far it's the Speakerboxxx side that's really knocking me out. I haven't listened to very much of it so far, but Ghettomusick is a great intro, and Bowtie really knocked me out. Sick sick horns on that one. I like how on some of the tracks he used a live band, too.

I thought I'd like Andre 3k's side more than Big Boi's, but so far that hasn't been the case. I think Andre3k is stretching out a lot more on The Love Below and experimenting, while Big Boi is sticking to what he does best.

there is a cool article in slate today about how outkast are the best rock band out there:

http://slate.msn.com/id/2089335/

this is what struck me as so interesting about outkast: a hip hop band making my favorite pop rock song that i have heard in a while! how cool is that?

you never see a rock band make a truly great hip hop song. but outkast just throws a rock song out there and it is amazing. goes to show how much talent it takes to make a great hip hop act.

I haven't listened to it yet, but they've always been pretty interesting.

Isn't Devil's Haircut the riff from I Can Only Give You Everything (Them w/ Van Morrison)? There used to be a website out there dedicated to just that song - it said there have been almost 200 recorded covers of it.

This shit is awesome. I've been spending more time with speakerboxxx but Hey Ya is the cut. The prodution throughout is the great. I really like the way when choruses are sung they still feel like part of the song. So many colaboration rap songs just sound like 2 songs thrown together.

I will agree on the length issues. Eeldip what are you including in your short versions? I've never been a fan of stupid interludes on rap albums. A lot of albums would be much better off without them. The Bamboo one is funny though. He sounds like me singing: The whole world ,um, la lalala la la.

It's too good. I heard they are casting Andre as Jimi Hendrix in a movie due out next year. Could there be a better choice?
