Book: American Hardcore
I received this as a Christmas present, and have been reading it over the weekend. Despite its flaws, I'm really getting a kick out of it. It's like a trip back in time to my misspent youth. If you were involved in HC back in the early or mid '80s--going to the shows, playing in bands, reading the 'zines or buying the records--you will probably enjoy this book.

Yeah that book looked somewhat interesting. I browsed through it once and it kept talking about how hardcore was dead. I don't think it died, it just evolved.

I like that book. Interesting and pretty cool. My favorite part is when the author says,
"Henry Rollins isn't gay...he just does gay stuff."

Yeah, the book is homophobic and misogynistic in places, but hardcore was often that way, too, I'm sorry to say... I met some really intolerant motherfuckers in my days of playing in HC bands.
