That's nutty. I wonder how much it's actually worth.

Mahn. It'd be worth that much just for the back issues of Grand Royal Magazine. 8) Shit was great.

Damn.... wonder what master tapes come with that. That's a pretty low price, it seems.

absolutly you would.

Every hear about some poor sob winning the lottery and losing it all? Here in Georgia some schmuck won several million in the lotto... he was a mechanic and bought the dealership he was working for.... and allllllll the debt. He was broke in a year.

You would need a good lawyer to look into this stuff beforehand.

I don't mean to be a gossip, but does this mean that the Beastie Boys are bankrupt? That would be kinda cool and very much what I would expect from them right about now. Or did they bail out somehow in a golden parachute or whatever you call it in the corporate world? Man, even back in like '93, '94, the whole operation kind of smelled to me like an Apple Records thing, "let's form a company and hire all our friends and run it into the ground."

Not that I'm in the market for buying a label, but I wonder how you would find out what the debt actually was. The lists of assets mention a bunch of contracts but say nothing about royalties or financial records.

Also noticed there were a couple of intriguing-looking items in the list of Grand Royal masters -- "Pixies Video" -- WTF is that?

When one of you buy the label, will you please pay the studio I work at.

Grand Royal owes them 6 GRAND!!!

Hooray for labels!

Tempting but I got the Bentley in a bit of a bender when I was on my way to the chalet in Colorado.
I seriously doubt the B-boys are broke. They started a biz it tanked they yanked out. If I am correct about the biz world they are probably still very well off as far as personal finances.

Beasties Not Bankrupt...

at least not from this. Unless they were too stoned to incorporate. That's why you do that 'inc." crap, to make the business a separate entity, right? To separate it from your own assets, so you don't lose them. I figure they gotta have smarts enought to have done all that stuff.

Mark Kates, former GRR Pres., has a great label here in Bahston called Fenway Recordings now. Check it out -- he's put out 2 records by Clint Conley's (Mission of Burma) band, Consonant.

They're probably just selling the label name and logo (as a trademark). I'm _sure_ the masters and the rights to the music are seperate (Various master recordings, license agreements, recording agreements and misc. contracts available. )

a real attempt to legally bind someone into paying off your debt, that's what this is. I'm sure they figure "why not? someone maybe dumb enough to do it.."
