Must-to-own books for engineers

Post by junkstar » Wed Jun 09, 2004 10:33 am

I've purchased some great books recently from recommendations on this board. Thought I'd start a thread in case I've missed any really key publications. What are a few of the 'must-to-own' books you guys recommend for people interested in audio engineering? Any level of expertise allowed...

Thanks.

I really like the Audio Cyclopedia - pricey but thorough.

The New Stereo Soundbook

Although it is more from a pristine classical/jazz documentation point of view, this book is a must have. All sorts of information about how to make it seem like the listener is there when it is happening: psychoacoustics, head-realted transfer functions, stereo microphone philosophies, psudeostereo effects, and on and on. Also, would you want to pass up on tracking a symphony with a full chorus with soloists simply because you had no idea how to? Of course you wouldn't. Go buy this book now.

I love that book. "Hit men" is great, too. Of course the "handbook for audio engineers" is great. And 99 dollars....

There is, in fact, a TapeOp book. It's made up of articles culled from the first 12 issues or so.

You can buy it on Amazon, and I'm sure plenty of other places.
