Post by markjazzbassist » Sun Dec 11, 2011 1:10 am

Just got this recently and I love it. great blend of rock and orchestra, and i absolutely love the bass work (primarily i'm a bassist).

i can't understand serge, but the musical is magical, anyone else love this record?

Yeah, the bass is way up front and big. I only wish it was an instrumental record.

It's fantastic. Mixed to sound like an imaginary film soundtrack in Serge's head perhaps? :D

Marc Goodman clued me in to the similarity between Serge's "Melody" and Beck's "Paper Tiger."

yeah beck admitted to ripping him off as an homage to serge, beck just did serge's daughter's (charlotte) record, IRM. apparently the gainsbourg family didn't care about him lifting that.
