Need somebody to help with an electronic drum track?

Post by will.record.for.food » Tue Apr 03, 2012 10:01 pm

Hey guys. I don't want to sound way too spammy, so I won't link to the song, but I've got a college-student friend who is about to track a song, and I need a drum track for it. He's a songwriter guy with an acoustic and a few other instruments thrown in.

Is there a good place (here or elsewhere online) that I would get a response for this kind of thing. He's got a demo of the song, but I really want to help him out on this one...I just know nothing about this sort of thing.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated!

Mods, I'm sorry if this is the wrong sub-forum...move it if you need to.

Thanks
-Jeff

So you need someone to play drums on the track?
I have an e kit here at home.
Pm me the track and the details and I'll give it a twirl!

Hey man...thanks for the response. My friend wrote it, and had a really positive response. I helped him with the basics of tracking this song, but it was NOT good. His timing was off and his friend tried to add a drum beat and electric guitar (in one take) on top of it afterwards with a keyboard.

the song can be streamed at http://www.myspace.com/tylerrileymusic

but the original track is here:

We're going to retrack from the ground up.... so, I don't really need a track to match THIS track, but I need a beat to be the foundation of the new song

So you want it to be in this vein?
Drums come in after 8th measure (I'll keep time with the high hat until then)
How about the heart beat bass drum he was trying to do, ya wanna keep that idea?
Bpm at 100 4/4 timing

Not quite 100bpm
I'll go ahead and track it to basic 120

Already started the click track.
I hear strings in this too!

Sorry I didn't respond right away. I'm a grad student and I'm trying to knock out a paper. Its not due until NEXT Friday, but I'm leaving for a week-long conference on Monday and don't get back until next Friday... Luckily it doesn't have to be terribly long 2000-3000 words.

Whatever you want to try is awesome with me. If you want to get something down on a wav file, that would be great. I don't know if you're set up for this, but if you record to midi, a midi track would be totally awesome, but whatever you want to do is great with me :)

I know its old school, but I use Tracktion.

No prob, Get ur school work done. I'm at work today but will work on it tonight.
I use Reaper software and love it!
So I will have no problem sending the midi file as well.
I do not have a online storage so I thought maybe I could send you(email) the drums in the mp3 format and you can re-convert them on your side.

I'm going to add some guitars and bass to my click track to capture the emotion of the song. Otherwise the drums will feel flat.
