Clyde Stubblefield THE Funky Drummer, needs help

Post by drumsound » Wed Aug 18, 2010 2:19 pm

It's seems the very man who played and was the Funky drummer is having health and thusly, financial issues. He has kidney failure and is undergoing weekly dialysis treatment.

I always thought it was sad that artist who have financially benefitted from the performance of guys like Clyde don't chip in and help on stuff like this...
Working on music with Pete from Porno for Pyros...

True, but tons of huge rap stars basically based their careers off of this guy's beats...he's THE most sampled drummer ever...

He's made upteen millions for the hip-hop crowd and he's said in interviews that he has not received a single thank you postcard, let alone payments, for anyone who has sampled him to on their way to fame.

Peace out? I say shame out!

Precisely why I think hip-hop and rap are rarely if at all genuine forms of "music". Seems to me that the people who identify as rappers or hip-hoppers are all too often little more than narcissistic leeches exhibiting behavior more in tune with Wall St. bankers and Washington lobbyist in their lust for "gettin' minez" than with the higher purposes of the arts.

But I digress...

As of Feb 19 he no longer needs our help. In the Times article I discovered that Prince paid Clyde?s medical bills in private. Coupla good ones gone.
