LePage Acosti-Seal?

Post by floid » Sat Feb 14, 2015 5:15 am

LePage PL Acousti-Seal vapour barrier and sound reduction adhesive, "never dries out." Came upon a case of 20 for cheap at a discount place. Standard (small) tube size, so wouldn't stretch very far. Not a lot of info out there, other than "it's messy." Wondering if it might work as a perimeter seal or even GG substitute for an iso box? Has anyone here any experience?

This will work great as a perimeter seal /caulk Under sheet material or a plastic vapor barrier.

It's not a gg substitute. The lp has a much thicker consistency and would create a triple leaf effect between sheets of wall board. You'd be better off just doubling up the wall board material and using rc channel.

This is great stuff to use anywhere you are looking for an airtight seal, UNDER your interior finished surface.

Routinely this product is used on the surface of studs after insulation his installed then a plastic vapor barrier is installed and when the plastic hits the pl stuff....you've got a tight vapor barrier.
