Oak Park, IL - any recommendations?
I'm looking for a good studio in Oak Park or close by; anyone have a recommendation or a pitch?
Re: Oak Park, IL - any recommendations?
I have a studio in Oak Park. It's nuendo based, 24 channels of Lucid AD/DA converters that sound real nice, and a 1/2" 8track (otari mx5050) if you feel like going to tape first, or going old school. I'm still working on a website for the place, but in the meantime, here's our gear list:
Tac Matchless 26x24x8x2 board
Nuendo 1.6 with 24 channels I/O and UAD plug-ins
Cranesong HEDD 2 Channel Converter with Tape and Tube simulation

Outboard:
Avalon 737sp

64 Blackface Fender Bandmaster with weber-loaded 2x12 cabinet
Silverface fender vibro-champ
Brownface Fender Vibroverb reissue
THD plexi 50 replica with 2x12 vintage 30 loaded bogner cabinet

mesa 400+ with 2, 1x15 ev loaded mesa road cabs
great selection of boutique guitar pedals, mostly fulltone.
You can here some stuff recently done here at http://leprecore.com.
I would refer you to "make-it-over" and "window-web" as examples of the sounds we've been getting lately. There's also a picture of the live room there. We feature a homey atmosphere and comfortable surroundings.
If you are interested, our # is 773.330.1631. I'd love to discuss your project with you.

What style of music are you recording? Do you need a really nice tracking room, or are you doing more electronic based music?

john no problem-
and to be fair, eric's got a few great setups as well, but he's more north side, that's the only reason i didn't mention him in that last post!
thats the cool thing about chicago, a lot of really cool, talented people all over!

Re: Oak Park, IL - any recommendations?
Mostly acoustic guitar and vocals with other sonic fun tossed in for spice. Electronic stuff I can do at home, but acoustic stuff sounds like crap in my little basement set up.ericblam wrote:What style of music are you recording?
