What is a weblog?

I am living under a rock when it comes to computers. To me, it sounds like what Doogie Howser did at the end of each episode.

A weblog, or "blog" as they are sometimes called, is like a public online journal. Someone writes whatever they want about whatever they want and people stop by and read it. That's pretty much it.

That's pretty much it. Except, for some reason, the author has the crazy idea other people will want to read it.

I think of it as the next step after posting on messageboards.

for a long time i never wanted to do my own, because i didn't give a crap, but then i had all these friends who had their own blogs and they would constantly pester me to make one. so i finally did, and actually really enjoy posting crazy things. but see, i'm not interested in talking and telling people about my day, because frankly i find that incredibly boring. so rather i just post crazy pictures and links to cool videos, kind of like how we're always posting here on tapeop.

though all in all, i still find them boring, and i think mine is boring too, i just keep doing it. if i don't, i'm sure my friends will pester me to death again. but then again, i kinda got used to liking it.
