Where did it go?
I think the drum sound (in general) is awesome. The snare sounds extremely awesome. Guitars are great. Only thing is, once everything comes in and really gets going I can barely hear the bass. I really have to focus in on it to be able to hear it. May have been what you were going for, but probably just the speakers I am listening on now. Other than that it sounds great. The guitars are a huge source of power in this and I love the way they are mixed.

slowly panning across something kind of crappy...

Re: first In the Box mix
man don't ask
needed some quick cash, I very much hope it is a temporary situation.
I mixed this on big 15" JBL monitors so maybe I got too much bass in under the radar. It also has 808 bass hits all over it so I was mixing on the big boys to make sure no sub frequencies were going to blow up any speakers!
Drums are
d112
57 on the shell
cant remember what I had on the toms ( I think those little AKG black lipstick mics. I borrowed them)
MXL 990 overheads. (glyn johns style)
at4033 room mic about 5 feet out in front of the kit about ear level
motu 2408 mk3 and very liberal use of digitalfishphones compression plugins
thanks for the feedback

Re: first In the Box mix
Snare sounds good, but it sticks out a bit.
I wish the kick was a strong as the snare.
Ride is pretty washed out.
Bass is there but not very powerful.
Guitars are maybe a bit boxey (the one on the left seems more boxey than the right).
I think for this kind of music you could get rid of the guitar noise between chords. (god, am I really saying that?).
Mabey put a compressor accross the whole thing to glue it a bit?
Pretty dang good though for first ITB mix.
I'm having a really hard time mixing ITB myself.
I find I spend WAY more time getting things right than on the console.
But instant recall is so cool!!
X, you can't lose your console!
It looked so good in your space too.
I hope you get it back.

Right on, good to see you man,
You'll find a collection of generally friendly and helpful people here. It takes some getting used to but it's pretty cool
Celt, Spankenstein, Born make the occasional appearances here as well

Re: first In the Box mix
Hey Slider are you talking about the amp noise between guitar stops? Or the gliss-pickish harmonic shit?
The amp noise is some shitty 60hz buzz I have going, the "chucka chucka" harmonic shit I'm actually doing on purpose

Yeah I think it's the hum between chords I was hearing.
Sometimes a little clean up of this stuff can help.
I'll give the new one a listen.

Re: first In the Box mix
It sounds good, but I think it's clipping.
I listened to it louder this time.
Sounds like an L2 or some kind of limiter with some gain added after the limiter.
I'd like to hear it without the mastering stuff, if that's what's going on.
I guess it could just be the mix peaking over digital zero.
Granted I'm on Event 20\20's on my home computer.
It might just be the MP3 as well.
