Hey all,
I'm a musician and project studio recordist in LA and I have found it to be no simple thing tracking down like minded small studio owners or other DIY project musicians across this urban expanse. Plenty of people recording things but...
A project I am working on has exceeded my capabilities and I am hoping to meet some people in the area I can work with or get it into a small studio.
Feel free to PM me if you are looking for new projects or just want to meet others in the area. An LA TapeOp gorup anyone?
Jeremy

Not only are there quite a few other L.A. tapeoppers (shouldn't it be "tapeops"?), there is another L.A. tapeop named Jeremy. Me.
(waves).
There's a surprising number of folks from L.A. on this board. There should be a get together sometime.

Yeah, I'm into meeting up with folks.
It's good to have the board back.

yeah, what about a LA TapeOp Beer night?
I organized one a couple of years back and it was just me and EQ, hanging out at the HMS Bounty, which was cool.

Yeah, count me in for an LA Tapeop beer night. Well, if I'm not working, which I am most of the time. HMS Bounty kicks ass!

Schedule a time and place, and I'm there. There'll be more people than just Raymond and E-cue next time.

Mr.Simms, greetings...
I think LA is too huge to only have one beer night. Where does everybody live? Im pretty much Downtown. My new favorite bar is Johnny's on Sunset and Silverlake Blvd. (in Silver Lake).

I'm in Culver City but I am willing to drive. Silverlake is reasonable for me. It would be great to meet everyone.
Damn nice to see the boards back up.

Weilands in Little Tokyo has $2 pints everynight after 10p. Near 1st and Alameda. Oh yeah, their appetizers are cheap after 10, too.

Sounds like the perfect place to me. Is it loud? Crowded?

I've never seen it "standing room only" crowded, but there can be quite a few people there on Fri., Sat. I usually go on some random weeknight, and never had a problem with getting a table. They have a nice sized patio in the back with tables and what-not. We're usually the only ones out back there. They have a website, but no photos, just a menu.

Oh yeah, it's not loud. I've never had to shout over anything to be heard. No live bands or anything, just a jukebox.
