I like what the SansAmp plug does on PT. Is there a similar quality plug for Audio Units that does something tasty for distorting bass?

What software are you using? It's not sansamp like at all, but I have productively used MOTU's preamp plug for distortion now and then. I will say that if I want a good rock distortion sound on my bass, I record it that way. I'm a big fan of the fulltone bassdrive.
Best,

I'm actually asking for a friend who uses DP. I'll suggest the preamp plug. I definitely agree with recording it that way to begin with.
I really like a blackface Bassman on 10 with 10 inch speakers.
Maybe I'll suggest that he try re-amping.
