Any Otari Radar users out there ?
I have a Radar II coming in a week and am looking for some tips. Do you still like yours ? Your time is appreciated.

Welcome to the Radar club. You will love it.
The Radar II converters are the same as the current Radar 24 "classic". It will sound great and you'll love how easy it is to use. Very reliable as well. The only downside is the lack of file export options that the newer models have. But if you have the ADAT lightpipe card you can easily do a real-time transfer into a lightpipe equipped DAW.
Enjoy!

to my mind, the downside to Radar is the cost. I've heard nothing but glowing reveiws from everyone who uses the format, but until they come up with something priced for the average consumer, i'm just gonna have to take their word for it. Not to name drop (well, OK, here goes:) but Andy Partridge raved about it to me- said it's the only kind of digital recording worth doing. I can't afford Radar Love, but I've definitely got Radar Lust.

I really dig my Radar II. I bought mine as a tape machine (Otari MX-70) replacement.....it is 100% unbelievable. Easy to use, great remote etc. No brainer learning curve.
I do transfers on occasion into a DAW using the TDIF I/O and a MOTU 2408. Works like a charm. SCSI drives are cheap now so media costs are little to worry about.
The Radar sounds great and is very stable. The best single studio investment I ever made.....hands down.
Enjoy.
