You'd be much better off hitting those up at the track level.

But really, there's SOOOO much headroom if you're staying in 24-bit, I wouldn't even sweat it. -12dBfs for the very highest peak isn't too low. Honest. Personally, I try to keep it a little higher than that. But if that's where the mix winds up, that's where it winds up.

Looking at my files, I'm realizing that in mose cases only one or two peaky transients defines the headroom, and if I could just bring those pesky little buggers down, I'd be fine and have more, well, headroom...
If that's all it is, leave it be. Why risk coloring the mix just to 'automatically' turn down a couple of peaks?
