not as cheap as the $200 range some folks have mentioned, but martin has a 12 string that is made out of mostly synthetic material! called the D12X1. yea i know, sounds like they are naming an asteroid. it will be very very durable too. i was real skeptical at first when the salesguy was telling me about the materials. but as i said i thought it sounded great. and a martin for $549. i almost made a total impluse buy on it last month.

Another bargain acoustic 12 string are Seagulls. They stay very much in tune, durable, sound great, and list for dirt cheap (I've been able to find used ones for less than $300). Both spruce top and cedar top. The cedar top sounds awesome on a dry day, but like wet cardboard if it's humid.
