Anyone looking for really good, tasteful mastering should check out Alan Tucker at Foothill Digital... www.foothilldigital.com

I bring ALL the stuff i mix there whenever i can... my clients are always thrilled with the results. he doesn't over compress or limit or fuck up the audio at all. i get my mixes back but way better and clearer and nicer. and he's one of the nicest people i know. just got a record back that i mixed 2 weeks ago, and it sounds like i wanted... but better. his CV is pretty rediculous... from starting at Bell studios and working on stuff like Gladys Knight and the Pips, to pre-mastering Metallica's Black Album to a ton of the Verve Reissues (Coltrane for Lovers, etc...)... anyway, he's very into all sorts of music and is totally great at working on indy projects.

just nice to be really happy with how a reference CD sounds. he's in NYC. any local peeps who need mastering should check him out.

cheers,
john

I agree that Allan Tucker is excellent!

I just mastered 2 projects with Michael Marciano at Systems Two (Brooklyn, NY) and it went truly great. He's also not into squashing or making things sound unnatural, though he has been asked to and has done whatever the client demands...

The studio has no website, but their number is 718.851.1010

Highly reccomended...

Do you think Allan Tucker and/or Michael Marciano would do well with Beatlesque vocal pop/rock?

I think so. Allan Tucker in particular has done a big variety of stuff.

Katherine Miller (sometimes at The Studio, in SOHO) has done some good mastering for reasonable rates.

Doug Henderson, too. I don't remember what he calls his spot though...

Oh, and Chris Flam, at Mindswerve is worth checking out.
