My old Band

Post by Paperbass2 » Thu Nov 17, 2005 11:57 pm

Hey everybody I noticed this section and figured I'd chime in. Here is my old band, I'm not the singer!! Anyway here is the link:

www.purevolume.com/thegents/

I did the tracking in my basement with Pro Tools LE the 002 Rack and an RNP. The vocal mic on "Siren" is an SM-57 and on "Faces" it's an SM-7

Guitars - SM57 , Bass - RNP to 002 , Drums - I think it was 2 pencil condensers overhead, 57 on the snare and Sennheiser 421 on the kick.

I did the mix with another engineer who spiced up what was there.

I'm still learning and I had a blast doing this, I wanted to share my experience with all of you! Feel free to write or reply.

"Siren" sounds quite good for a basement recording. The drums in particular sound nice. "Faces" doesn't sound as refined to me, neither the sounds, or the mix. The snare sounds tubby and the vocals uneven compared with "Siren."
