Guitarmill.....

Post by mikelevitt » Thu Nov 24, 2005 8:33 am

Mario at Guitarmill in Nashville does beuatiful Nitro finishes for $175 or so. www.guitarmill.com

There's a guy named TY who's hooked up with USACG who does beautiful stuff, but uses poly...

IMO, there's just no point in painting a guitar with poly - unless you think putting 1/8" of plastic on your guitar is going to improve your sound. If you can find somebody who's an artist to shoot poly it's not too bad if it is really thin... but I still prefer nitro.

There are also a couple of guys on the tele page www.tdpri.com who do nice finishes, relics, etc - do a search..

If you are inclined, the paint from www.reranch.com works great, but you really need a well-ventilated space to do it, the stuff is loaded with really bad solvents and will drive you out of your house. It's disgusting... Beautiful results, though, and they do have your sonic blue...

Thanks for the replies, I'll start contacting these people, and see what comes out.
