12 I/O interface for Logic
12 I/O interface for Logic
Okay, so, I'm stepping it up a bit for my project studio- actually the lil' label I'm on is buying me a piece of equipment as incentive for the next album, and I decided I needed an interface with more ins- preferably just 1/4" balanced- either FW 400 or 800. I'll be running through a board so I don't need any pres or phantom power or anything on this puppy, but I want at least 12 ACTUAL ins, not 8 and two RCAS or 10 and two fiberoptic funholes or whatever. The only thing I've found so far is the Echo Audiofire 12- which is within budget, but I'd like either some feedback on that model, or suggestions for others.
Any ideas? I'm running Logic Pro on an MDD G4 Dual 1.42 Ghz with 712 ram.

Thanks- I think I noticed that, except I'm running 10.3, so I don't think I have that option. Anyway, I'd rather get one unit with many inputs- I'm trying to get them to buy one thing.

motu's got something... 24i0 maybe that has 24 ins and outs... i don't think it's got anything else... just ins and outs.
it would be nice to see some decent converters that didn't have all the bells and whistles and preamps etc... i'm looking for the same kinda thing, so if you find something good pm me.
thanks

exactly. I could give a shit about how wonderful M-Audio's pres are and the fact that I can hook up my I/O to and ethernet cable and record 32-bit 96K audio of Jupiter's Europa moon evolving life. I just want in channels. I'll let my analog gear handle the sound quality. I mean all those bells & whistles just make them more cost prohibitive.

correct me if I'm wrong but I think even my old 828 mk1 will send in 8 analog plus 8 adat(which I havent used) and perhaps even 2 more spdif(which I have used). Sorry if I sound dumb. I set it up so its convieniently routed to my main pres and outboard so I havent had to so much as peek back there in the last 6 months. I think there are several firewire options out there that will input 16+ channels if you use the adat option. I think the bottom tier of adat a/d converters maybe start around $150.

MOTU
I have a MOTU 828 mkII, which has 8 analog ins, 8 ADAT optical and more. I'd like to part with that soon so I can get a Digi 002 someday. Interested?

Yes it does. I have one and their ins and outs are all XLR.toaster3000 wrote:aren't the MOTU HD192 converts 12 channels a box?

The Motu 24io was mentioned as well. That has 24 ins and outs, 1/4" but it doesn't have a lot of headroom. I find that my 24io distorts easily. I'm favoring getting another HD192 instead.
The 24io only goes to 24/96k and the HD192 goes up to 24/192k.

hmm
hmm, I think the label is gonna get me an Echo Audiofire 12 regardless, but thanks for the offer. I couldn't afford it myself anyhow.
