The dual-core X2 AMD 4800+

I want to totally go all out and get myself I crazy powerful computer, does the AMD 4800+ good for audio?

That processor would probably be overkill. I'd save $400 and get the 4200+. Unless you have money to burn, you should never buy the fastest thing on the market, 'cause you're always paying a price premium to get the lastest/greatest.

I'm running a Sonar 5 through a AMD x2 4400 with a dual WD Raptor aray in raid0 and it's pretty F-ing sweet. You should check the AMD web page and compare the stats... I forget exactly what it was, so I might be wrong when I say this but I think the bus speeds are faster on the 4400 then on the 4800.

Always build your own Comp as well... If you ever need parts, the first place you should always check out is www.pricewatch.com
