I have a Vox wah pedal that has a problem with a severe volume drop after using it for a couple of seconds. If I take the cables out and plug them in again, the problem is fixed for a few seconds.
I haven't had time to go at it with my 'scope or meter, and was wondering if anyone has seen this happen, or had some hints on where to start the diagnosis. My first thought was a leaky cap, but everything looks fine. I don't see any shorts or frayed wires, and I can't imagine a cold solder joint being the issue, it worked fine for years.
Thanks in advance.

sounds like a cap, but check all of the simple things first.

Thanks guys,
The battery is new (and I have tried a couple), the wires are all in good shape, and it is the only thing between the guitar and the amp. The first thing I did was check the cables. I didn't think to suspect the jacks, I'll check that. However, there isn't a problem when the pedal is in bypass, so that might rule that out. I'll bypass the switch to see if that is the culprit.

Thanks, Tony, I second that.
It's Jon Raleigh's wah, not mine. I found out that someone had set the gear to dip out too high, causing a strange feedback/oscillation thing. I rolled the gear a little lower, and problem solved.
FWIW- Jon was doing some neat stuff with the wah. A nice background texture. No porn groove here.
