slightly trippy zen guitar rock

Post by zentatonic » Sun Aug 31, 2003 2:12 pm

Greetings -

Psyched I finally found TapeOp!! Here's a link to my website, where I've got some mp3s to check out.
Granted, my recording skills have improved since last year, but I'm proud of this music.
I hope you enjoy it. It was recorded with Cool Edit Pro 2.0 and mastered with T Racks.
Click the MP3 Downloads link at: http://www.mountainmirrors.com

Be Good.
Best,
Jeff

I listened to Field of Grass. The opening drums reminded me of 'When the Levy Breaks'. Nice sounds. The vocals were a little too "in your face," can't say if it was compression, fx, or just level in the mix. Probably compression. Some synth to fill out would have been nice here and there. Still, nice minimal mix, lots of room. Good song. :)

Hi....

Hey, i dug yer stuff......listening to "Wash Me Away" right now, and it very much reminds me of mid-70's Randy California (vocals and guitar), which is by no means a dig, as I feel Randy was a supremely underrated talent, although his songwriting rambled a bit in later years. I liked your "in your face" percussion and the flanging/phasing effect on the vocal, the "pig grunting" bass at the beginning, and the general "room" sound. Keep it up!
Curious how you got your drum sounds....?

Thanks for listening, konabuzz!
I'll have to check out Randy California...
Very cool of you to visit my website.
The drums on all of that music were done with a Zoom RT 323 drum machine. Recorded into a Fostex FD-4 digi four track and mixed to DAT.
I used a BBE Sonic Maximizer on the drums, too.
Best,
Jeff
