yeah, both are tape-based studios, so it doesn't really apply, but it's an important point.
I remember a band I knew travelled from DC to Chicago to record, and basically lost a full album's worth of tracks to hard drive failure, though the vocals hadn't been recorded yet. Of course the studio wasn't going to charge them for the extra time, but they had travel expenses and jobs to get back to, etc.
This was about 10 years ago, so the cost of the extra storage space was a lot more, but today there's really not much excuse for not doing a nightly backup in a professional environment.
