One big-ass room....

Post by cwileyriser » Wed Jan 11, 2006 9:43 am

Anyone else working with one huge room instead of separate tracking room(s) and control room? I've got a space about 25' x 56', and have everything in the same room. I kind of like it that way, because the mixes are translating well and I am not too excited about building a control room. But of course, it means that I can't listen to anything on the monitors while tracking with mics.

Anyone have any thoughts about the tradeoff of one big cool room versus separate rooms?

I have one large room (34 by 18 by 12 feet at the center peak) and I can't imagine working any other way. I do only my own projects, but I do record others occasionally. So we all use earphones, and I record everything to separate tracks and sort out the balances later.
