I need to rent a PA in NYC in February - any leads?

Regional activities, relevant news, job openings, studio searches, local beer nights (not a forum to plug the new album you just worked on)

I need to rent a PA in NYC in February - any leads?

Post by KennyD » Wed Dec 07, 2005 4:04 pm

Hello,

A buddy of mine is getting married in Manhattan on Saturday, February 25th. I am helping to take care of renting the PA and DJ-ing the event. We're looking for a medium sized PA, big enough for a wedding with 200 people, but not overwhelming so the older folks can still have conversations. Being from out of town, we'd like to have it delivered and picked up. The place is at 450 W. 31st St.

Can any of you recommend a company to rent from?

Thanks!

Kenny D

http://www.moorepahire.com/

Also, make sure you check with the space -- a lot of them have an "approved' vendor list to deal with.

Good luck.

S.I.R. will rent you a P.A. to do the job and deliver it. Their warehouse is right on 36th and 9th so you should be fine.

SIR, although very professional, may be too high end for what you want. I'd recommend a smaller place where you would possibly find more attention. Carroll Music, in Manhattan, is one that comes to mind. You can see a good directory of Sound Companies in New York at a website called:
http://www.newyorkmusician.com. It has a number of sound companies with links to their websites. It is free and requires no registration and could give you some insights.

Good luck with your project.

I can't prove this but I've been told that you might want to not mention that it's for a wedding party. Despite the fact that a P.A. doesn't experience much wear and tear during a wedding party, some rental companies have different rates if they know that you're spending more money for the event overall.

I'd second the call on Moore PA. I've worked used them a few times and they have been very good and cost effective.
