i need help with wiring piece of gear-electrodyne eq

Post by rjd2 » Thu Jan 12, 2006 7:10 pm

hi-i recently came across an electrodyne 2-band dial eq unit, i believe this came out of a board. unfortunately, all i know from the person i got this from is that it runs on 24vdc. is there any way i can discern what leads should go to what on the back of this unit? there are a total of 10 leads, two of them looking like they are jumpered together already. they lead to what i believe is the input transformer. i have tried several combinations, but have no luck. thanks for any help. sp-if a picture of the circuit output would help, i could take one.

Typically, you will need to trace out the circuit board and create a schematic to determine what connects to where.

Go ahead & post pictures of the top & bottom of the board. If its a single sided PCB it might not be too hard to figure at least some of the connections.

You will have to find a place to host them and then post a link. If you don't have a place to upload them email them to me.

on "eq3", you can see there are a total of 10 connects(the wide one in the middle is split to two on the harness). the RIGHT four outputs all connect to the input transformer on the other side. thoughts?

Focus is a bit off on those pix, but some very genral comments.

At first, I though that round, black can was a transformer, but now I'm suspecting it houses some sort of amplifier "module". The values and polarities of the electrolytics might be a clue on which pin would be the DC rail.

i think the round black can is an inductor. no?

try ken hirsch at orphan audio, he'll know the pinout.

I don't know why you would need +24 volts, All I see is descrete componets.

UNLESS the black can is (as mentioned by brianroth) a preamp module of some sort, may be some transistors in that little puppy. Are there any markings on that can? That will be the key to your power supply hook up.

on first look that black can looked like an opamp to me too. Especially since you can kind of make out an arrow kind of on the top, and from the underside it appears that the legs are in a circle.

of course, the photos are really hard to draw conclusions from since they are blurry and out of focus - better photos will help here
